Program Description The APS Physician-Scientist Fellowship was developed and initiated in 2003 with the goals of fostering research careers among young physicians and increasing APS physician-scientist membership. The Fellowship provides one year of support for regular membership in the APS, including a subscription to the journal, Psychosomatic Medicine, eligibility to serve on committees or hold office, access to the APS website sections for members, and discounted registration at the Annual Meeting. Each January, the Membership Committee selects from nominated candidates up to 20 APS Physician-Scientist Fellows for that calendar year. Candidates must be nominated by an APS member who is in a position to foster the applicant’s interest and research in psychosomatic medicine. Fellows are selected on the basis of an interest in psychosomatic medicine, academic qualifications, the relationship between the APS member and nominee, and plans for career development. Nominations should be submitted to the Society headquarters by January 31st using the one-page form available on the APS website (accessible via the Membership, Awards, and Physicians’ Corner sections).
