By American Psychosomatic Society

APS is pleased to announce the Fellow Status in the American Psychosomatic Society (FAPS) has been created to recognize sustained excellence in scholarship and/or professional contributions to the field of psychosomatic science and commitment to the American Psychosomatic Society. Through FAPS, APS seeks to recognize, honor, and sustain the engagement of members in advancing psychosomatic science.

Applications for the inaugural class of Fellows of APS will be accepted beginning in April 2020, and the first class of FAPS will be introduced at the 2021 Annual Meeting.

Eligibility criteria includes:

  • A minimum of 7 years of membership with evidence of engagement with the Society’s programs and activities
  • A demonstrated track-record of scientific, clinical, and/or educational accomplishments that support the mission of APS
  • Candidates must be ten years past receipt of their highest academic degree or more than ten years past completion of clinical training

Fellows of APS are ambassadors for the Society’s prestige and standards of excellence. By serving as role models they help solidify APS’ commitment to the advancement of both science and practice as well as offering guidance and support to our younger members.

The expectation is that Fellows will maintain active participation in the Society and continued contributions to the science of psychosomatic medicine.
